Here at Chess4Life one of our goals is to offer our team members not only fulfilling and rewarding jobs but career opportunities.  With that in mind we have developed an internal career progression program that makes it possible for anyone with the talent and motivation to become a senior manager in our company, regardless of whether you start as an Assistant Coach, Van Driver, or Administrative Coordinator.

 

Coaching Opportunities

Chess Coaches are the core of Chess4Life.  Chess Coaches have the continual privilege of positively impacting the lives of children by teaching life skills through the game of chess.  We have openings for all levels of skill in the game of chess.  At Chess4Life, a desire to help kids learn, grow, and develop is more important than skill.  We have opportunities available in Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Bothell, Seattle, Everett, Tacoma, and in schools throughout the Puget Sound.

 

Chess Coach

A Chess Coach must work well with kids, both individually and in groups; be patient; be able to develop and direct Assistant Coaches and Volunteers, be a team player, possess classroom management skills, exhibit responsibility, and be willing to keep learning. A Coach must care about the success of the students.

Chess Coach positions are available for all levels of skill. Very flexible hours, part-time or full-time work - mostly after-school hours. Head coaches make from $18 - $30 per hour.

 

Assistant Chess Coach

An Assistant Coach must have an understanding of the game of chess. Each Assistant Coach works with a Head Coach. Assistant Coaches work with individual students and small groups of students. An Assistant Coach must enjoy working with kids, be patient, and be able to work as part of a coaching team.

An Assistant Coach earns $9 - $16 per hour. Beginning hours are part-time and flexible. Own transportation needed for some work assignments. Background check required.

Staff Opportunities

At Chess4Life it is the effort of many dedicated team members that ensures we are delivering effective, high quality services to our students. We have a variety of staff positions available for individuals who are excited about enriching the lives of children through chess.

Center Manager

The Center Manager is responsible for the overall success of a Chess4Life Center. The Center Manager utilizes excellent customer service skills and talent for marketing and promotion to attract and retain new customers.  This position incorporates both business management and child instruction as you will be given opportunities to teach kids life skills through the game of chess.  The ideal candidate will have experience and understanding of business management, the ability to set goals for growth and development, be highly organized and efficient, and completely committed to quality execution.

Assistant Center Manager

Assistant Center Managers support the stability and growth of their center by performing a variety of duties at the direction of the Center Manager.  The Assistant Center Manager must have meticulous attention to detail and be completely reliable in their administration of critical information.  The Assistant CM will be a key point of escalation for all types of situations and is often heavily involved in ensuring that customer service is performing at the highest standard.  The position allows for the complete learning of all aspects of running a Chess4Life center.

Administrative Coordinator

Administrative Coordinators support Chess4Life staff and clients by ensuring exceptional customer experiences, precise organization and administration, and a great attitude. This position entails routine daily administrative tasks including front-desk management, support and coordination of broader projects, and seasonally varied tasks in a friendly workplace serving primarily elementary-age children and parents.

Van Driver

 

Drivers support Chess4Life staff and customers by operating Chess4Life owned vehicles to ensure the safe pick-up, transport, and drop off our students. This position entails driving of routes to pick up students and returning them to our center so they can begin participation in our programs.
